Obituary

Josephine Moreno Arredondo of Kyle, Texas slipped into the arms of her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of October 2, 2021. She was surrounded by her loving family, in the house she had made a home.
Josephine was born September 18, 1948 to Natividad and Maria Castillo Moreno in Uhland, Texas. She has 5 sisters (Janie, Margie, Rosa, Della, Carolina) and 2 brothers (Joe, Mario). Her mother recounts on how Josephine was a super great daughter from the day she was born until her last days, she could not have asked for a better daughter. She was always loving, caring, very respectful and that she never had any problems. She never did anything wrong.

In the summer of 1964, while picking cotton in the fields of Kyle, Texas, she met Refugio Arredondo. It didn't take long for her to become Mrs. Arredondo, when they wed on January 31, 1965, while she was 16 and Refugio was "a very grown up" 18-year-old. There first child, a son, Refugio Arredondo, Jr. was born before the end of the year and despite difficulty, she delivered two more healthy children; Joseph in 1970 and LaDonna in 1976. They lived six months with her parents, then built a house of their own in Kyle and have lived in the community ever since.

Josephine was a true homemaker, loving her family and caring for them with her many talents of cooking, sewing, gardening and ceramics. She was s detailed oriented, that fellow potters would come to her to have them paint the eyes of their figurines before they were fired.

One of the most important points in her life happened in 1972 when she committed her life to the Lord. She had been raised in the Catholic Church and Refugio was non-denominational Christian. She became an ordained minister in praying for the sick. Always ready and willing to fulfill her calling. Once she retired, she started a daily devotional for women by texting and encouraging the Word of God into their lives. She was a prayer warrior and worshiper and because of this, her family consists of pastors, preachers, teachers, and worship leaders. Her legacy will live on.

Josephine was preceded in death by her father, Natividad Moreno. Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 56 years, Refugio Arredondo, Sr., her children Refugio, Jr. (Lupe); Joseph (Ramona) and LaDonna Rodriguez (John); as well as (16) grandchildren, (9) great-grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews.
