He graduated from Austin High School, in Austin, Texas. He served in the United States Marine Corp right out of high school. He was medically discharged during boot camp.
He met the love of his life Darla Metz at the Broken Spoke in Austin, Texas in February of 1983. They married the following year on March 10, 1984. Together they had 3 children, Debra Joan, Donald Earl and Deanna Carol.
He held several jobs throughout his life including: the Lower Colorado River Authority, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Jack in the Box and Internal Revenue Service, He retired from the IRS in December 2018. He was a member of the Manchaca Volunteer Fire Department.
He loved bowling and coached the youth league at Westgate Lanes, where he has bowled in leagues since 1993.
He served on the church council at Abiding Love Lutheran Church in Austin on the Parish / Fellowship committee. Recently he and his family had joined The Connection Church in Buda, which was a little closer to home.
He also loved working with the Lehman Lobos band boosters; chaperoning the kids on the buses going to the football games and band competitions as well as assisting the pit crew at the football games.
He enjoyed traveling with the family, visiting various places including: Oklahoma, Louisiana, Hawaii, Nevada, Colorado, North and South Dakota.
He is survived by his wife Darla of Uhland, son Donald Earl and daughter Deanna Carol of Uhland. Brother Harvey and wife Jeanette of Kyle, brother Floyd Jr and wife Jacqueline of Austin; Brother Lloyd of Austin, Sister Docia of Converse, and brother Mark and wife Charlotte of San Antonio. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends from their church and bowling families.
He was preceded in death by daughter Debra Joan, Mother Margaret, Father Floyd and his sister Margaret.
