Charles "Rudy" Weigelt, 81, of Austin, TX passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 15, 2020. His passing coincides with the birthdate of his mom. Rudy was born in Giddings, TX on November 20, 1938, the son of Rudy G. and Vera Weigelt.
Rudy was a longtime lumberman and worked for 37 dedicated years at Calcasieu Lumber Company where he was known as "Mr. Rudy." He retired from Calcasieu in 2000. Rudy served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Upon retiring, he spent his time with Fay relaxing and oftentimes going to the horse races in Fredericksburg and occasionally Ruidoso, NM. Throughout his life he enjoyed deer hunting at the Armes Ranch in Fredonia, TX as well as numerous South Texas ranches associated with Calcasieu. He also enjoyed attending University of Texas Football games with longtime friends, fishing, trips to the coast with family, playing golf and softball with friends from Calcasieu.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Genell Fay (Neutzler) Weigelt; two children: Byron Weigelt of Austin, Amy Weigelt and Melinda Davis of Leander; one granddaughter: Haley Weigelt of Dripping Springs; one sibling: Renee Borders of Austin; sisters-in-law Kay Schmidt of Giddings, JoLynn Schoenberg of Houston, Delores Neutzler of Austin; brothers-in-law Darrel and Vicki Neutzler of Carmine, Andy Newton of Giddings; along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, brother Howard Weigelt, sister Mary Newton, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Branch C. and Nelita Neutzler, and brothers-in-law: Jerry Schmidt, James Schoenberg, James Borders, and Branch E. Neutzler.
In an abundance of caution due to the Corona Virus, the family has requested a private funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Abiding Love Lutheran Church, American Cancer Society, American Kidney Fund, or the charity of one's choice.
The Weigelt Family were our neighbors in Giddings many long years ago. Charles Rudy was part of that wonderful family; so many great memories! I last saw Charles Rudy and Fay at the horse races years ago; what a good man! My blessings and prayers of peace and comfort to Fay, Renee, and the entire family.
Our sincerest condolences to the Weigelt family on the passing of Mr. Weigelt. My Dad, brother and I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Mr. Weigelt during our time with Calcasieu Lumber Co. He was truly a great man and we're going to miss him. May God rest his soul and prayers to the Weigelt family.

Mr. Rudy was such a wonderfully memorable person and special friend to so many of us who worked at Calcasieu.
Brought a tear to my eye. He lit up our office every time he came in. This world would be better if there were more people like him. He will be missed by all.
Mr. Rudy is gone. My deepest sympathy to the Weigelt family. I was fortunate to know and work with Rudy @ Calcasieu until he retired. I'll remember sharing cold beers with him and the gang after closing the store on Friday; seeing him working the pit at Contractor BBQ's; his stories; his humor; and many, many other good things. He was the true definition of a "Good Ol' Boy", and will be missed.
ALWAYS there to usher at former Prince of Peace Lutheran Church through the many years. ALWAYS there early to protect us at our Prince of Peace doors when security became an issue. ALWAYS a very great listener to sermons who heard what I hoped would be heard & not just an interesting illustration. ALWAYS A BELIEVER IN PRAYER! ALWAYS a lover of his Fay & family! ALWAYS will be a special friend in our hearts as we all go on living, loving, and serving in the name of our Lord Jesus! ALWAYS! Forever! We will miss you deeply, Rudy.
With our heartfelt & deepest sympathies to Fay & family, Pastor Fred & Kathy Krebs
We will miss Rudy and his visits with us from time to time here at the Burleson Store. We always had fun at the Calcasieu Bar-B-Que's when he was The Head Chef.

The Weigelt an Pieratt family were good neighbors and Charles Rudy and my brother Harold were best of friends. When my wife first met Faye and CR at a cafe, I knew Rudy would put in a show and he did. My wife was laughing so hard. I only say 1 bad thing about Rudy, he and his senior class partied so hard at New Orleans that no out of state trips were ever taken again. My heart goes out to Faye and Renea. RIP Rudy.
Faye and family, so sorry to hear about Rudy's passing. He was such a fun guy to be around. Many fond memories of when we lived across the street from you. Always there when I needed something. I know he is at peace, but that does not make his passing any easier. Love you guys!!!
Dear Fay, Soso sorry to hear of Rudy's passing. I always looked forward to giving Rudy "the business". I loved to make him laugh. Are thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, love Ron A and the entire Race Barn crew
Fay and Family,
I was so sorry to hear of Rudy's passing. He was such a nice and fun guy. I enjoyed the time that I spent with both of you, at the Westlund family parties. My thoughts and prayers are with you, in these difficult days.
