Elsa Ann Lopez was taken into the heavenly home of our Lord Jesus Christ on September 3, 2019. She passed peacefully at her home in Austin, Texas, surrounded by friends and family who loved her dearly. Elsa was born on August 17, 1960 in Lorenzo, Texas. She grew up on a farm in Idalou, Texas, and was part of a large, loving family. She graduated from Idalou High School in 1979 and soon after moved to Austin. Elsa found great joy in meeting people and never met a stranger. She had many friends from all walks of life and was loving and giving. She was self-employed and for many years as she maintained several clubs and office buildings in downtown Austin. She also had a special place in her heart for all animals, was very charming especially with dogs, and her nickname was "The Dog Whisperer." Accordingly, she turned her passion and love for dogs into a dog walking business which brought her abundant joy. She loved her work and clients, both four and two-legged. In addition, she had her very special pet, a beautiful Hyacinth McCaw named Chiquita. It was very important to Elsa that Chiquita go to a forever home with birds of her kind where she will be able to spread her wings and fly. With the help and guidance of a good friend, the perfect home has been found and Chiquita will be moving to the Gabriel Foundation Bird Sanctuary in Elizabeth, Colorado.
Elsa is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Esther and Bill Bray and their sons, Zachary and Zane, of Arlington, Texas. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Claudia Lopez of Bastrop, Texas, and their children, Rosie and Marcelo. In addition, she leaves behind a large loving family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Cipriano and Rosie Lopez, and a sister, Elaine.

It was over 30 years ago that I first met Elsa, I interviewed her for a job, the minute I saw her, I knew she would be someone special in my life. She changed my life forever, I am a better person knowing her. We had some good times together, made life long friends, spending 5 years in each other's lives. She had such a good heart and gave of herself selflessly. Always the life of the party! It comforts me to know that she is reunited with her Mom and Dad, Rena and Chuy again. I, too, already had a dream about you, I'm not sure what you were trying to tell me either. My sincere condolences to Elsa's family and friends. Rest in Peace, Elsa, Heaven is lucky to have you.
I’ll always miss you Elsa .i met you almost thirty years ago. There was always so much laughter and our hearts were filled with joy. i will always honor that i was part of your life . And like Ernest said ... til we me again. Love always Theresa
I met Elsa July of 2018 five months after my spouse had passed. Her cousin Erma sent her number to me to dog sit my dog Anne-E Love while my family tried to take me out of town to deal With some grief. Elsa and I instantly started a friendship that I know God sent to me from heaven. We would talk almost everyday and share stories of our past life and our families. She always managed to surprise me by cooking king crab for me or showing up at my doorstep with the most beautiful exotic flowers, and a smile and hug always. She and I shared every holiday and special occasion like it was the last-as we both new that when the time came like her brother Ernest said we couldn’t be selfish. She woke me up every morning with a text wishing me a great beautiful day and we never went to bed that evening without speaking on face time. I love her with all my heart. And I know also with all her heart she loved me to . And I’m honored of her request and trust as she left her baby boy Roscoe in the care of me to raise as my son . And I promised her I forever would. Her friendship touched me in ways I had never dreamed it would and with that the year we had felt like a life time . I love you my friend kiss Annette for me and I’ll be thinking of you in Heaven forever your friend Adrienne
Elsa, when I first met you I knew we would be friends forever. Through thick and thin we've been friends for over 30 years. Like true friends we were always there for each other. We were always helping each other out, even to the end. I wish there was something more that I could've done to ease your pain, that was one thing I couldn't help you with or fix. My dear friend, I will miss you dearly, I'll miss our weekly calls, but I know that you are now with the angels. I know that you will be looking out for all your friends. The other night you were in my dreams and you were trying to communicate a message to me. I don't know what it all means but I'm sure I will soon figure it out. We had so many great times and wonderful memories together that I will always cherish. I was blessed to have your friendship for all these years. I love you always and may you rest in peace. -Rosemary
Ernest, thank you for sending me this picture of Elsa and me. It has become one of my favorites, and it brought back many memories of the times we got to get together.
My dear friend Elsa, this does not feel real. We always talked about growing old together. You were a part of my family for 39 years. You were the best Godmother to my son Matthew. We are all going to miss you terribly. I know you are at peace now, with no more suffering. You fought a good fight for three years. Now you will be with our mothers for eternity. You are now our guardian angel. I love you. God bless you. Rita Santiago and family
My dear sweet sister , words can not say how much you’ll be missed . After mom and dad died , you took on the role of “mom.” You planned our Christmas and Thanksgiving holidays . You made sure that the traditions of making the fruit salad and dressing were carried out . Right down to making cascarones and dying Easter eggs with boys. Zachary, Zane , and Rose were always spoiled by you on every holiday, especially their birthdays. They were everything to you . Letting you go has been the hardest for me. But I know you’re no longer suffering . I love you Elsa! It’s like Ernest said, “This isn’t goodbye, it’s see you later.”
My dearest condolence to Elsa's family. She will be missed dearly but we have so many wonderful memories. She had the biggest heart & was always there for "everyone". She loved her pets so very much, with unconditional love. Love you Elsa.
I remember going to Austin to visit Elsa once a month at least when I was younger. Else never failed to keep my brother and I entertained and or smiling. It breaks my heart that she’s gone, but I’m so happy I got to got make many memories with her. I love you, Elsa. I always will.
Elsa was one of the first friends I made when I moved to Austin in 2017 , and it was like we had known each other for a long time . She opened her heart to me and my own difficulties and trials as my big brother Joey was battling cancer at this same time . She made great efforts to comfort me and come visit Joey when he was in his last month of this life . Then , we became even closer as she allowed me the privledge of workingvwith her at the office buildings and doing minial tasks for her as she became weaker and unable to do everything for herself , as she was used to doing . What an honor and a joy to attend mass together and to pray together . What an honor to be a small part of her waĺk towards heaven and to share time with someone who really was " bigger than life" . Thank you to her family and many friends whom I met and the many I have not met yet ! May you be comforted by the joyful memories that death nor time can ever erase .
