Brandon Wayne Wright, 34, of Austin, Texas was called home to be with our Lord on July 21, 2019. Brandon was born in Baytown, Texas to Gary Wright and Donna Wilson Myers on March 25, 1985.

Brandon's passion for football was evident at an early age. He was a starting linebacker, #35 for the James Bowie H.S. Bulldogs. While pursuing his education at Cisco Jr. College, College of the Sequoias and Angelo State University, Brandon enjoyed the life of a collegiate football player. It was no surprise that Brandon's knowledge and love for the game would be passed on to his brother Cole. Some of Brandon's proudest moments came while watching Cole excel on the gridiron at James Bowie High just as he had done many years before.

In 2006, Brandon joined the United States Marine Corps. Five months later, he deployed to Iraq as a Mortar Specialist. In recognition of his service to country and the Corps, Brandon received the Iraqi Campaign Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserved Medal, and Sharp Shooter Rifle Badge.

Life after the service found Brandon at Austin Community College, where he earned his EMT license while also receiving his Firefighter Certification from The Fire Academy in Taylor, Texas. Brandon worked for CE-Bar Fire and Westlake Fire Department. During his employment at CE-Bar, Brandon received the Phoenix Award from the City of Austin for saving the life of Jack Delisle, a seventeen-year-old Westlake High School student. Jack and the Delisle family became very important to Brandon, and a special bond and friendship evolved that would make for many good times and wonderful memories.

Brandon enjoyed riding and building motorcycles. The "DAVE-Mac" was his most treasured Harley gifted to him from his late grandfather Dave McElroy. He was into weight lifting, hunting, fishing and he loved music of all genres. Brandon enjoyed writing in his journal and was a great story teller. Although, the greatest gift Brandon ever received was his most prized possession, Somer Lynn, whom he valued more than anything in this world. Brandon loved Somer more than life itself and fatherhood gave him a sense of pride that only those blessed with the title "Dad" can understand.

Brandon was a man of few words and he always saw the good in everyone he encountered. His heart was big and he loved big. We were all blessed to have had him in our lives. We will miss him every day and keep him safe in our hearts forever.

Brandon is survived by his father Gary Wright, mother Donna Myers and Bonus Dad James Myers; daughter Somer Lynn Wright; sister Courtney Runkle and husband Brian, nephews Michael and Brysen; sister Briana Saunders and husband Clint, niece Lillian Sloan; brother Cole Myers; sister Geni Medina and husband Richy; grandmother Linda McElroy; grandfather Larry Lee Wilson; grandparents Jeff and Marcie Timme as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, his firefighter family and marine brothers. Brandon is proceeded in death by his beloved grandfather David Lee McElroy (PaPa), grandparents Fred and Shirley Wright (Nanny) and cousin Sloan Myrick Nagy (Nunu).

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8 at Harrell Funeral Homes at 1715 Kirby Kyle, Texas, 78640. Kacy Benson of Freedom Fellowship Church will officiate. Burial will be at 1:45 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery located at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd. San Antonio, Texas 78209
