Jason Michael Henry of Kyle, Texas, passed away on August 1, 2019 at home of natural causes. Jason was born in Austin, Texas at St. David's Hospital to Michael and Susan Henry on June 25, 1978. He loved getting presents every 6 months. His sister Amanda could not wait to meet her baby brother, and Jason was so excited when his younger brother Joshua arrived two years later
Jason graduated from Hyde Park Baptist School in Austin and often said "Oh thank Heaven for 1997". He attended Southwest Texas State University, East Texas Commerce State and completed his degree in Accounting from Colorado Technical University. He was a valued member of the H & R Block Team, and earned his securities license in order to work with his Dad, where he worked until his passing.
Jason was an avid reader, and enjoyed listening to books on tape, which he frequently shared and listened to with his sister and father. Jason enjoyed bowling for several years, took pleasure in golfing, lounging in the river, and helped lead his coed softball for several years. He managed a weekly poker league for years, bringing together a large community of neighbors and friends in Wimberly and Hays County.
Jason's favorite pasttime was being with his many friends and laughing and teasing them. Jason enjoyed professional baseball (especially the Chicago Cubs) either in person or on tv. He loved watching soccer on tv and saw the first professional soccer game this summer in Los Angeles and his second in Denver. Jason loved to travel. For the last several years, he bought an annual pass to all the National Parks, which he explored with his brother and sister on their annual roadtrips together. This past May, Jason and his brother went to Australia together, where Jason petted a koala and a kangaroo, because he never met an animal he didn't like. And just three weeks ago in July, he returned from a roadtrip with his brother and sister where they visited Joshua Tree National Park, the Grand Canyon National Park, Tonto National Forest, Petrified Forest National Park, the Contental Divide Pass in Colorado, and Roswell, New Mexico.
Jason is survived by his Dad and Mom, Michael and Susan, his younger brother, Joshua, and older sister, Amanda, grandmother, Nina Rushing uncle and aunt, Bruce and Barbara Myton, uncle and aunt Todd and Christy Rushing, along with several cousins. He also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Rocky and Homer. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harold and Ruth Henry, and maternal grandfather, Lloyd Rushing, along with his cousin, Christina.
Arrangements will be handled by Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle, Texas. There will be a viewing on Friday, August 9, 2019 , as well as a memorial service at 7pm. Following the service all attendees are invited to attend a wake in remembrance at Inoz Restaurant in Wimberley, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Jason's honor to American Heart Association or Wimberley Animal Group (WAG).
Jason had done my taxes for a several years and it always took most of the afternoon cause the two of us loved to talk about our travel. Between the two of us we have seen most of the US. He was a sweetheart and will be missed so much. Peace be with him.
I always enjoyed my talks with Jason when we meet several times a year to go over investments and taxes. I valued his expert advice and company. He would keep me informed of how his family was doing and always had a fun story to tell me. He will be greatly missed. Rest in peace Jason.
